Monday.com Integration

DejaSync provides seamless two-way synchronization with Monday.com, allowing you to keep your boards in sync with Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, and other platforms.

Getting Started

Connecting Monday.com

1. During sync creation, select Monday as one of your apps
2. Click Connect to authorize DejaSync
3. You'll be redirected to Monday.com's OAuth page
4. Sign in to your Monday account
5. Grant DejaSync access to your workspace and boards
6. You'll be redirected back to complete your sync setup

Selecting Your Data

After connecting, you'll be able to:

• Choose a workspace: Select from all workspaces you have access to
• Select boards: Pick specific boards within your workspace to sync
• Map columns: DejaSync automatically detects and maps matching columns

Supported Column Types

DejaSync supports a comprehensive range of Monday.com column types. The table below shows all supported columns and their sync capabilities.

Column Type Notes

Read-Only Columns: Mirror, Last updated, Creation log, Group, and Item ID columns are system-managed and cannot be written to.

Status Columns: Status labels are synced as text values. Custom status colors are not transferred.

People & Team: User assignments are synced by email address. Users must exist in both platforms.

Board Relations: When syncing connected boards, DejaSync syncs the item IDs. The actual connected data is not expanded.

Files: File attachments are synced as URLs. The files themselves remain hosted by Monday.com.

Timeline: Timeline columns with start and end dates are synced as date ranges.

Board Structure

• Consistent column names: Use clear, descriptive names that match across platforms
• Avoid duplicate names: Each column should have a unique name
• Group organization: Keep groups organized for easier data management

Field Mapping

• Match column types: Ensure compatible column types for smooth syncing
• Status mapping: Map status columns to select/dropdown fields in other apps
• People columns: Ensure users exist in both platforms with matching email addresses

Sync Direction

• Bidirectional sync: Best for collaborative work across platforms
• One-way to Monday: Use when Monday is your primary workspace
• One-way from Monday: Use when Monday is your data source

Performance Tips

• Limit columns: Only sync the columns you actually need
• Filter items: Use board views to focus on relevant items
• Monitor complexity: Complex boards with many relations may sync more slowly

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

Problem: "Failed to connect to Monday.com"

• Solution: Ensure you've granted DejaSync access to your workspace
• Verify you have the necessary permissions on the boards you want to sync
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Monday account

Sync Errors

Problem: "Column type mismatch"

• Solution: Verify that mapped columns have compatible types
• Check the column type table above for compatibility

Problem: "User not found"

• Solution: For People/Team columns, ensure users exist in both platforms
• Users must have matching email addresses

Problem: "Permission denied"

• Solution: Ensure you have edit access to the board
• Check that the board hasn't been archived or deleted

Data Not Syncing

Problem: Changes not appearing in Monday

• Solution: Check your sync interval and manually trigger a sync
• Verify that column mappings are correct
• Ensure the board is still accessible
• Review Activity logs for detailed error messages

Problem: Status colors not syncing

• Solution: Only status labels sync, not colors
• Recreate status options in the destination app if needed

Problem: Mirror columns not updating

• Solution: Mirror columns are read-only and reflect data from connected boards
• Sync the source board instead to update mirror values

API Rate Limits

Monday.com has API rate limits that DejaSync respects:

• Complexity-based limits: Monday uses a complexity scoring system
• Default limit: 10,000,000 complexity units per minute
• DejaSync automatically manages requests to stay within limits
• Complex queries (with many relations) consume more units

Permissions

DejaSync requires the following Monday.com permissions:

• Read boards: To access your board data
• Write boards: To update items and column values
• Read users: To map People and Team columns
• Read account: To access workspace information

DejaSync only accesses boards you explicitly select for syncing.
